Yodha

This totally hair-brained enterprise is a cartoonish rigmarole featuring jaw-dropping logical flaws—from two aircraft with carpets and easily accessible holds to a plot so contrived that even the rescue flare releases the three colours of the tiranga. You may or may not emerge unscathed from this film, but it represents everything wrong with loud patriotism masquerading as cinema.

No matter how lenient you might want to be and how much of a Sidharth Malhotra fan you are, this pulpy action movie is a bumpy ride that lurches from one misstep to another.

Yodha directed by Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha and starring Sidharth Malhotra, Raashi Khanna and Disha Patani among others, doesn't soar, instead crashes.

I enjoyed the first 40 minutes or so of Yodha -- upfront, old school action is always a breeze. Once Arun gets on his second hijack assignment though, it's like an altogether different energy and aesthetic. Between smart Arun figuring how-to-fly manuals faster than a trained pilot to solo Arun reining in the free-for-all pandemonium enveloping Islamabad's political fortress, there is no end to Yodha's airhead logic.
