Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ends with Planet of the Apes-prophecies as it sets up the third film in the planned trilogy reboot. The film delivers spectacle and scares, but never more. It’s not a complete waste of time, but go in with tempered expectations.

Fallen Kingdom springs to life when Jeff Goldblum, as the chaos theory expert and all around rockstar Dr Malcolm, makes an appearance. 25 years ago, in Jurassic Park, he had warned us that this will not end well. Once again, he plays the voice of reason.

Of course we refuse to listen. We can’t because there is one more film to come.

It’s a film of our times. As scientists underline that we are now into the ‘Anthropocene epoch’ — or a human-influenced age, for the first time in Earth’s history — and as man plays God with nature, Fallen Kingdom does well to catch on.

Despite Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard’s charms and director JA Bayona’s horror-centric approach, Fallen Kingdom is the worst film in the series.

The film provides many jaw-dropping moments with some really good scares, that hardly to find in any typical movie.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is every bit a horror film split into predictable hostility and periodic close calls…

The Jurassic Park series has been on a decline ever since Spielberg first introduced us to the digitally-recreated reptiles back in 1993, but it continues to be a box office juggernaut and an adventure for the entire family. And though Fallen Kingdom is unsuccessful in pushing the franchise towards a more sincere take, it does manage to usher it into an era of new possibilities and properly justify its title (but not the subtitle), subtly at first and then in the most on-the-nose fashion with Dr. Malcolm in its closing moments.

‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ excels when it allows the real stars – the CGI dinosaurs – to shine, and roar louder than most of their predecessors.

The movie lives up to its name becoming a true thing of the world. It makes you chuckle, it scares, it entertains.

All said and done, this is the second best in the Jurassic franchise since Spielberg’s 1993’s original. J A Bayona hits many and misses some but delivers a well-crafted, heart-in-your-mouth dino-drama.

The formula continues to hold sway. The plotting is familiar and aims to extend the brand further- which is quite obvious. Largely an exercise to keep the fans happy, this film makes all the right noises but fails to make it more than ordinary!

This is a rare film that makes the first Jurassic World seem like the first Jurassic Park in terms of quality, which is a huge bummer since it’s directed by JA Bayona who is one of the best working filmmakers out there.

…the CGI is spot on and the visuals are aesthetically mounted. Director of Photography, Oscar Faura’s live-action frames mesh smoothly with the CGI and together, you experience some enchanting images.
Overall, this edition is much better than its predecessor.

Fallen Kingdom is an incredibly good-looking sequel that fails to take the story forward. It’s a disappointing lead-up to the next episode that might not be required after what we’ve seen.
