OMG 2

Having watched the film now, I can safely say, they managed to tackle the subject with sensitivity and force you to think as well. OMG 2 is unlike OMG: Oh My God...OMG 2 is heavy on dialogue and serious. Although it could feel preachy, it deserves a watch.

The film is like an argument for the sake of argument. Some of the points are intelligently presented, and there are bursts of genuine humour, but the film that is otherwise a lot of verbiage, without saying much.

OMG 2 takes its mansplaining so literally that the 'controversial' incident is shaped by the very masculinity that's responsible for the stigmatization of sex. Even by a tone-deaf metric, it's hard to figure out what the movie wants to say, oscillating between defending masturbation and condemning it as something kids need rescuing from.

The 156-minute OMG 2 always has its heart in the right place. Its concept is carefully steered, taking care to offer a progressive interpretation of Hinduism without causing offence. Yet, the use of religion to dispel misinformation as well as encourage social change sometimes comes off as a crutch, rather than a necessity.

OMG 2 is a better film than Ram Setu— it has the candour and charm of fantasy — but it also resorts to predictable Macaulay-bashing near the end to explain the flaws of Indian society. The film could have been shot and edited better (the CGI, too, looks shabby).

Reviewing this film is confusing mostly because its intentions are so firmly in the right place. OMG 2 ends up being a well-intentioned film that could've used more research.
