Bland, unimaginative, and entirely pointless, this is one film that needn’t have been made. Stay home and take a nap instead.

Super-rich men who have had accidents in super-secret labs and now live in super-size castles in super-solitude are rarely up to any good.

Alas, the film – just like its favoured food – is pure junk.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles does have some rather enjoyable action sequences and cheesy, yet funny one-liners though.

Overall, despite blatant product placements, the technically brilliant visuals and matching performances make the film worth a watch.

Thin plot aside, *TMNT* is peppered with just enough humour and maintains a strident pace throughout.

The story is pretty much the standard and predictable one but it’s the characters that make the film more interesting, especially the turtles. Each one has its own trait and they are fun as a team, they look bigger and stronger than the ones we saw in the previous film. All in all, the turtles offer some harmless entertainment.

The original films aren’t very good on a filmmaking level, but whatever was on screen had never been done before then. Everything about this film reeks of “been there done that”. If Bay’s master plan is to nurture today’s teens on this sort of mediocre codswallop, we need to hijack satellite channels and telecast the video of Vanilla Ice’s ‘Ninja Rap’ on every screen and save this generation of kids.

If you are someone who grew up watching the reptilian brothers in cartoons, movies or otherwise, then you are sure to enjoy this film. Agreed, there is not much originality to the plot and at times, the film feels rushed, but the turtles ground this movie and give it more soul. Despite clichéd scenes and below-par acting by a few of the characters, this movie deserves a watch. If only the makers had put a little more effort in the story, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would have been the perfect blockbuster.

Although directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath Of The Titans), the movie has Bay’s signature of explosive action written all over it. Even Fox is unable to alleviate our tedium as she pouts and pants as a journalist with highly questionable competence.
