• ‘Charfutiya Chhokare’ has good intentions. But alas, that’s about it. Unfortunately, this film is too jerky and amateurish for anyone to take it seriously, even if they want to…

  • Director Manish Harishankar with a powerful script and talented cast has not done a good job to be applauded in any way. Avoid watching it in big screen and save your money!

Chaarfutiya Chhokre is a lost cause. It’s intentions are pure but it’s method is embarrassing and dull. Sad to say but it is a terribly tedious movie.

If having the heart at its right place is the only requirement for a ‘real’ly good cinema then ‘Chaarfutiya Chhokare’ se badkar koi kahi na.

  • “Chaarfutiya Chhokare” is a film made by a lazy director who refuses to push himself or his team, and churns out a dud with a clumsy, superficial take on grim social issues.

‘Chaarfutiya Chhokare’ is built around a mildly interesting germ of an idea, 12-13 year old boys taking to crime because of human trafficking. But this idea gets lost in its soporific maze of a story where silly characters run around but get nowhere. The film has a few nice frames and exactly two interesting moments, but they are spoilt by inept acting and lines that should never have been written.

While the premise is interesting, the film could have been a better experience with some more focus on the writing and editing.

Does any kind of logic or reasoning go into making these kinds of films? Putting a spotlight on the ills of child marriage– and the other things– can never be a bad thing.

  • Soha Ali Khan is the brightest spot in the movie, with her earnest performance. But she can do only so much to salvage the film. Ditto veteran actors Zakir Hussain, Seema Biswas and Mukesh Tiwari, and the adorable child actors. This could have been a better movie with more conviction and imagination.

  • The noble intention of the film is undoubtable. In execution and storytelling it is a mess. The Hindi “social issue” melodrama usually has the stamp of a maker whom mainstream star-driven Bollywood has dyed purple, and with all that conditioning, and there is an attempt to break out and make a meaningful film.

Ignoring the technical errors of this film, I think Chaarfutiya Chhokare sensitively deals with the subject and should be given a chance.

If you are looking for a film sans the usual masala and item numbers, Chaarfutiya Chhokare will cater to your craving. The film deals with an important social issue, which we don’t usually see on most of the mainstream Bollywood films.

We appreciate the filmmaker’s noble intention of raising awareness among masses and the rural audience in particular about issues like child labour and child trafficking. However, we wish the execution was as convincing.

  • Overall, if you are looking out for some wholesome entertainment, then CHAARFUTIYA CHHOKARE is a highly avoidable fare, despite having a strong and sensitive subject.

Even earthy Rajasthani folk voices or Wikipedia statistics before the end credits cannot redeem an effort that would look best as a newspaper headline.

  • I wish I could be kinder just because the film is a well intentioned one. But sadly, despite good intentions it is a bad film that has poor dialogues (repeated use of the word ’Dabangg’ for some joy), technical discrepancies, a weak climax and unconvincing, conveniently done narrative.
