• Despite borrowing bits and bobs from many films including Moon director Duncan Jones’ grossly underrated Source Code, Liman still succeeds in delivering a film that skillfully melds a high-concept premise with thrilling action and even spurts of unexpected black humor. For a film about repetition, it never feels tired.

In a summer brimming with annihilating monsters, vicious aliens and assorted villains, Edge of Tomorrow just isn’t dazzling enough to stand out.

The zippiness does fade in the second half of Edge of Tomorrow. And the title (perhaps the most belabored way possible of saying tonight) could also use a replay. But among countless sequels and remakes, the high-concept Edge of Tomorrow – both a Tom Cruise celebration and parody – is the right kind of a rerun.

  • Edge of Tomorrow may not be a faithful adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s novel All You Need Is Kill but it’s a damn energetic one…

  • Writer Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s story has solid sci-fi credentials and Cruise proves that he still has the chops to pull off mega action movies. Edge of Tomorrow is one of his most compelling and nuanced performances in this genre.

No doubt Tom Curise is an ageing star but he can still give the younger lot a run for their money. For Tom Cruise fans this is a must watch!

  • When I watched Tom Cruise in a mech suit punching aliens in the face with one hand and spraying machine gun ammo with the other, I had just one thought in my mind – why was Edge of Tomorrow marketed so poorly? Because Edge of Tomorrow is a terrific film, and perhaps the most satisfying action movie I’ve seen this year.

Overall, “Edge of Tomorrow” is a decent popcorn fare for adventure and sci-fic aficionados, but it surely will not keep them at the edge of their seat for too long.

Edge of Tomorrow is an enjoyable action film, which doesn’t pretend to be any more than that. It takes great characters and combines them with breathtaking visuals to put together a film that is entertainment at its best. If you love sci-fi based action films, you can’t afford to miss Edge of Tomorrow.

  • Doug Liman’s new movie Edge Of Tomorrow proves that despite the doomsday predictions of his detractors, time is always on Tom Cruise’s side. The object of avoidable ridicule and the unavoidable effects of ageing in recent years is nothing but unputdownable, which is just what he needs to be in this heavily weaponized version of Groundhog Day.

  • … entertains in its narrative playfulness — another entry in the burgeoning fad of puzzle-making sci-fi, as seen in Inception and Looper. Few filmmakers have Liman’s knack for smart plotting; his much earlier Go inventively connected three intertwined stories.

  • Edge of Tomorrow can be taken to the cleaners if one truly wants to – films in the action sci-fi genra can almost always be torn apart for logic. But sometimes a film is so blatantly honest in its intentions, that you’re willing to let it have its way. Edge of Tomorrow is an enjoyable film multiple times over; and I suspect it will make for fun repeat viewing as well. –
