Synopsis
Main Aur Mr. Riight is a film about love, relationships and singlehood. It’s a story of 8 friends from different fields living their individual and successful lives. The story sails through each and everyone’s life of which the major plot being that of Aliya & Sukhi.In the film, Aliya faces the challenge of turning Sukhi from a loud and immature Punjabi jatt boy to her sophisticated ‘MR.RIGHT’ while on the other hand Sukhi with his charm and persona changes Aliya and her friends’ lives completely. MAIN AUR MR RIIGHT has the look and feel of QUEEN-raw and refreshing. If not for the second half aberrations, it would have been a money-spinner, too. Having said that, this film will go down well with the younger generation as it addresses the constant need of finding Mr. Right!

Main Aur Mr Right has much more to offer owing to several interesting elements — not just in terms of its story — that come across as a whiff of breath air. The sad part is they fizzle out either due to lack of depth in execution or plain ignorance concerning stark loopholes. A tighter film, featuring actors who can actually act, would have served the script better.

The only becoming factor here is TV hottie Barun Sobti’s ability to make the unlikely transformation stick with some nifty acting. But for his resplendent ability to convince and engage, this defeatist enterprise would have sunk without a trace!

Shenaz Treasurywala reappears on the silver screen and looks ravishing in every frame. Barun Sobti’s mainstream cinema debut will delight television fans. Give this movie a chance if you are looking for some light entertainment this weekend.

Without Barun, there is clearly nothing to see in the film and hence recommended only if you are a Sobti fan. If not, Main Aur Mr Riight is definitely not for you. And it should never be featured among rom-com movies.

This story of a poor little rich girl falling for a rank opposite could have been cute in a rom-com kind of way. But everything in Main Aur Mr. Riight (that double 'i' is particularly bothersome), from the emotions to the characterization, is way too synthetic to leave an impact.

I've watched many poor movies this year, but none as consistently cringe-worthy as this delusional fashion parade.
