Synopsis
Main Tera Hero is a romantic action-comedy film about a Mischievous, Clever, Charming, a Daredevil and the HERO (Varun Dhawan) who falls in love with Sunaina (Ileana D’cruz). Angad (Arunoday Singh) the corrupt cop, wants to forcibly marry Ileana and to make things more spicy also does Ayesha (Nargis Fakhri) who is madly in love with our Hero. A massy entertaining romantic drama ensues, which takes Our Hero from the mountainous Ooty, to the fun college campus of Bangalore, and then to a beautiful mansion, in gorgeous Thailand.Wikipedia

Watch it if you must for its catchy songs, a few good laughs, and a leading man who really tries.

‘Main Tera Hero’ is not as ghastly as a few recent Dhawans have been, but only because it takes itself not at all seriously, and becomes as silly as it should be for some of the second half . The rest of it has its share of the usual unsightly and tasteless gags about women and protruding body parts and the mandatory fat guy in a wheelchair.

Main Tera Hero is dumbed down by design. I have no issues with that. My problem is that the frenzied plot didn’t deliver enough funny lines. The burden of making this enterprise work rests mostly with Varun who is as hyper as a helium-filled energizer bunny. He romances, dances, punches and does comedy like his life depended on it. Meanwhile, the two svelte heroines - Ileana D’Cruz and Nargis Fakhri - simper around looking sexy. David believes in equal opportunity objectification so the camera caresses the girls as much as Varun’s six pack abs. They are all lovely to look at. I just wish it had been more interesting.

It is a sure-shot test: The more you laugh during this film, the lower your IQ. The most interesting thing about Main Tera Hero is its music, from its foot-tapping songs to the background music most of which is stolen, including from James Bond.

Keeping things largely distanced from logic, David clearly plays to his strengths. He knows nobody comes looking for any semblance of realism in his films. So he keeps it shamelessly mindless and there is nothing wrong with that. Full marks to his leading man Varun for carrying an improbable plot to the finish line, making it a fun one-time watch. This hero is here to stay.

Main Tera Hero succeeds where films like R... Rajkumar, Chennai Express and Phata Poster Nikla Hero failed. Not exactly suitable for family audiences, Main Tera Hero is a total seeti-maar, paisa vasool film and refreshingly unpretentious.

Main Tera Hero, for all its excesses, is held together by its sustained comic energy. The sillier it turns, the better it gets. The film has enough laugh-out-loud situations for the audience not to be overly put off by the screenplay’s obvious rough edges.Give Main Tera Hero a shot. Not quite vintage David Dhawan, but it comes pretty close.

Those seeking movies with meaning, note - Main Tera Hero is a pav bhaji picture, quick, spicy, hot. It has the depth of a comic strip but it also has its neon-shaded fun. For those who want a light laugh, here's your boy.

The comedy just gets more tedious and unfunny as the film progresses. Except for a couple of jokes, nothing, and I mean nothing, is salvageable in this disaster of a film.

You know that when you go to see a David Dhawan film that it's a Bollywood fantasy film. Rajpal Yadav does the same role he has done in a million films before. In the mood for a madcap film? Main Tera Hero is the answer.

I wouldn't recommend that you spend money on multiplex tickets for Main Tera Hero, even if you like mindless comedies this could be a decent DVD watch.

Main Tero Hero transports you into a world of fun that we have been kept devoid of from weeks. Quick witted, jocular and pricelessly silly, this film is a sure shot must watch. Leading constantly somber lives extracts the vibrancy out of us and after a long time here’s a film that will rescue you from the regular pains by offering 120 minutes flat of persistent guffawing. Varun Dhawan’s Govinda act is one rollicking show. I am going with a 3/5 and recommend that you definitely watch abandon all your troubles and have a blast at the movies this well. Thumbs up!

Main Tera Hero is not exactly David Dhawan of yore but it comes close. Largely, due to the effortless charm of Varun Dhawan. Worth a shot for some Varungiri. An extra star just for that.

...a wild, wacky, madcap entertainer that has the unmistakable stamp of the master of entertainers -- David Dhawan. An over the top plot, humor quotient and performances are three aces the film stands on. The film should work well with admirers of typical Bollywood masalathons, also because Varun Dhawan pulls off the act with flamboyance and bowls you over with an uproarious act in this zany entertainer. Go, have fun and laugh out loud!

The girls are there just to fulfill the glamour quotient but Varun Dhawan shows that along with those 6 packs, he has some acting talent as well. He has the potential to be a hero but this is not the right film.

While the first half is breezy and super fun, the second half could have been a tad shorter; we spend too much time on the foreplay to the climax. All-in-all Dhawan’s ‘Main Tera Hero’ manages to deliver on the entertainment quotient.

Well, well. David Dhawan made HERO NO.1(1997) with Govinda. Now he has launched his son Varun (a walking-talking Govinda) in MTH. The movie is a remake of KANDIREEGA (Telugu, 2011), that was earlier remade into PAGLU 2 (Bengali, 2012).
David-Vashu-Govinda have been ably substituted by David-Ekta-Varun. Alia Bhatt was brilliant in Highway. Siddharth Malhotra did a good job in Hassee Toh Phassee. So can Varun be far behind? With MTH, he takes over from Govinda. And what a zany comedy it turns out to be. Don't look for the story. But don't leave ur brains behind at home
too. Here, u go with the flow. And this flow leaves u asking for more even after the movie ends.
David hasn't lost his midas touch. And Varun shows that he is an able Govinda-successor. Right from songs to mindless scenarios to everything -he handles it all effortlessly. It is a hand-in-glove movie. Everything fits. Everyone here is made for each other. Varun graduates from a student to a star and passes out with top scores. This election month too won't dent the craze and collection for this movie. God and people r with it
Well, the story is unrealistic. But then it is so much fun. Varun in a dream-worthy college scenario, falls for Ileana De'Cruz. And a kabab-mein-haddi cop Arunoday Singh is hell bent on marrying her. A don's daughter Nargis Fakhri takes a shine to Varun. There is marry-go-round in this love-quadrangle. And the wheel of fun spins on and on. Who gets who? That is the question the movie answers finally. BTW, Anupam Kher's voice echoes as he was born in Manali(a hill station). So if you have been hearing about problems, this movie works for you big time.
Anupam Kher-Saurabh Shukla-Rajpal Yadav take over from where Kader Khan-Shakti Kapoor left in David Dhawan films. Karisma Kapoor-Tabu may well be proud of Ileana-Nargis. The girls are a delight in their own right. And the songs are actually chalta purza but go with the spirit of the movie. Taste a song - Besharmi ki Height; Galat Baat Hai; Shanivaar Raati or Palat.
This is hallmark David Dhawan movie. And Varun leaves his own stamp on it. Now I strongly feel, only he could do this role. The role was written for him or he made the character come alive - welcome Govinda No 2. Welcome aboard Varun. What a hearty laugh and laughter I had. The audience is in for good times. MTH will match the might of T20 cricket and come out WINNERS. The movie is doubtlessly a definite HIT.(Touch wood).

Main Tera Hero. Father David Dhawan casts his son Varun Dhawan as a typical Bollywood hero in his typical romantic cum slap stick comedy. The end result is average because although Varun tries hard to replicate the Govinda (David Dhawan's favourite in old times) effect but because the story seems just a forced attempt to keep Varun in spotlight. Varun's charm works using his naughty face and well shaped body. Heroines are there to just smile on the smartness of our hero. Both Ileana and Nargis fall short of putting any sincere effort in their comic timings. However surprisingly Arunoday Singh does well in comic scenes while essaying the role of the typical manly villain who wants the heroine at any cost. Side characters played by likes of Anupam Kher and Saurabh Shukla are descent. I am going with not bad 6 out of 10 for Main Tera Hero. Watch it on a lazy day when you don't want your mind to do any work.

A typical David Dhawan movie, enjoyed everybit of the movie.....Varun is awesome super talented n super cute...Lot of energy in him.....can definitely take the place of Govinda or Salman Khan......the girls are fairly acted n not so good looking n sexy.....
