What Purani Jeans lacks is originality; everything appears the been-there-done-that type. Even the youthful gags fail to score any points and there are several questions about the characterization.

  • The film is a bad attempt to display the emotions of friendship and love in its true sense. You would rather concentrate on munching your popcorn because the movie has nothing unique to catch one’s attention. It is recommended only for those who want to watch this movie just for the heck of it.

This movie takes patience to watch. So if you have nothing better to do and you want to watch a movie where you will laugh at the film and not with it, then this is for you.

Purani Jeans is an unfortunate throwback to a non-existent era-a constant struggle to climb down an escalator that is clearly going up.

The listlessness then is evenly spread. There’s a certain decrepit feel to almost every scene, interaction and character that’s not easy to accomplish when you have young boys fist-bumping each other. Yet it’s strong, this stench of been here, seen this.

  • Purani Jeans is certainly no Dil Chahta Hai, but for a film starring fresh faces, it’s a commendable effort.

All in all this Purani Jeans reeks of the age-old-unmentionable-romantic-disasters that will leave you either nauseating or yawning endlessly!

  • First time director Tanushri Chattrji Bassu has a novel concept at hand but fails in its execution. This movie had the trappings of a JAANE TU… YA JAANE NA… with fresh faces but the below average acting of most and juvenile dialogues and situations, especially in the first half pulls the movie down.

  • Extremely formula driven, Purani Jeans fails to generate any excitement with its below average writing and bad acting.

What else do you say about this Purani Jeans? It may keep you off your favourite denims for a long time. So better you stay away from this film.

Yes, the concept of dosti symbolized as purani jeans is as old as cowboys in the wild west. But this denim offering leaves you ‘blue’ and ‘uncool’.

I enjoyed ‘Purani Jeans’ for its freshness in the face of familiarity, and a story that holds all the way to the end.

…is too dull and predictable to make any impact at the box-office. Its poor initial will only add to its tale of woes. Flop show!

  • The film is like any other youth centric film that fails to portray the emotions of friendship and love in a relatable manner. There is less cohesiveness in the story and more often that not one loses interest. Purani Jeans is a fickle attempt to make you relive your college memories. The least you expect in a film aimed at the youth is to have a good music, but Ram Sampath seems to have lost his midas touch as the musical tones rather than uplifting the film make it sink even more. Purani Jeans is passable and I would recommend it only if one has a strong urge or a ‘hunger pang’ to watch a film for the sake of it.

  • All in all, this film is worth a watch once… all for the sake of friendship.

  • Purani Jeans offers nothing new in terms of a story and is fine example of inept direction. Avoid it. The story of Purani Jeans is at best ‘purani’ (old) and pretty stale. You could revisit Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara if you are in a mood for male bonding films. Else there are definitely better films at the theaters this week.

  • Unabashedly sexist, regressive, poorly researched and lacking the punch a college romance film is supposed to pack, Purani Jeans can easily give Yaariyaan a run for its money when it comes to being the worst film in the recent history of bad films.

After watching Purani Jeans for 138 minutes, I have decided to discard my denims.
