Minus 30 minutes, YPD 2 could have been much funnier – and much shorter. But despite two pretty heroines, three Deols and an assortment of nutty buddies, YPD 2 frequently stumbles into blunder-land.

A plot that should shame a wafer by its thinness. Random characters popping in and out. And the only thing one can say in its favour is that it is not as terrible as the first.

  • At the beginning of the film, Sunny looks towards the sky in disdain and asks, “Why Rabba?”, we ask the same! Neither funny, nor witty, YPD2 looks dated and feels half-hearted in its attempt to cater to the family audience.

  • ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’ has action aplenty but terribly fails to impress. Even Einstein (the orangutan) fails to cast his charm.

  • The image of Dharmendra and an orangutan riding a scooter, swaying joyously to the tune of ‘Yeh dosti hum nahin todenge’, is a fair representation of the standard of comedy in ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’

On the whole, YPD-2 rides on the star power of the Deols and of course, its brand. But, eventually, it’s the content that does the talking and in this case, the lackluster script plays a spoilsport!

  • Like all Indian films these days, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 starts with a disclaimer asserting that no animals were hurt during the shoot. Isn’t the poor orangutan an animal? It must be terribly ‘hurt’ at being treated with such disdain by mankind!

Sangeeth Sivan’s ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’ is organized chaos. Alas, garam Dharam can do little to salvage the sinking career of his two sons. The film remains watchable in bits and pieces for Dharmendra and Dharmendra only.

  • The buffoonery has been tackled without an aorta of logic. Tackily done rude humor and script that conspicuously lacks lucid flavor, YPD 2 loses its novelty by trying too hard to make you laugh.

  • The Deols thunder, the PYTs preen, the action is good and the comedy lame. Two extras in orangutan suits get to shake their booty to Sheila ki jawaani. The next level of Bollywood item dancing obviously, after Sunny Leone.

  • No one unabashedly owns up to their weaknesses and celebrates their strengths like the Deols do.This one’s not a classic by any standard, but watch it once if the mention of Dharmendra brings a warm smile to your face.

The plot developments in YPD2 are as wonky and hare-brained as you’ve seen in any recent run-of-the-mill comedy. You’re better off disassociating any hope of logic. Just believe that movies were never meant to have legitimate reason in the story.

  • Calling Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 a joke would amount to a compliment. And I am in no mood to extend such courtesy.

Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 is not a patch on its prequel. Not only is it clobbered with lame jokes that leave you embarrassed than amused, it goes on plodding for a good, bum-aching 155 minutes.

  • Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 is genuinely funny and entertaining, but the movie has its share of a few negatives. Especially, the script falters at times, as the lead actors overdo comedy. Certain episodes in the movie, lack the charm and fun factor, that might turn a big disappointment for the viewers.

The forced humor at times hurts the social-intellectual understanding of the audience in the theatre. Although the stars have tried putting in a bit with their acting skills each one them could do way better than what seemed like amateur performances.
