Gori Tere Pyaar Mein Reviews

We'd have cared more about this mismatched couple had the makers invested in a sharper script. It's as enjoyable as drinking a cup of tea that's been left out in the cold.

...is fun as long as it sticks to the formula. The best thing about Gori Tere Pyaar Mein! is Imran who maintains an easy charm, even when he’s adjusting to gobar and garibi.

Let's just say you should be grateful Karan Johar doesn't see an India beyond the metros more often. For when a Johar production heads to a village, as 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein' does, it is the sort of village where people dressed in tie and dyes hang around to fawn over the city slicks who will deliver them from a collector.

Gori Tere Pyaar Mein is essentially two different films separated by an intermission, with a few, weak common threads between the two. It is a case of shoddy editing, writing and direction. Its saving grace is that it is a love story and the second half will manage to melt your heart, if only slightly. It’s the classic opposites attract story and hey, if you’re into that kind of thing, this might be your kind of film.

This isn't the most rousing romance (second-half lacks 'rom'), but has its feel-good moments. Chew it up with some 'Chingam' and a cute date.

Like his characters, who live their lives with no realization of how the real world functions, Malhotra shows no wisdom or depth in “Gori Tere Pyaar Mein”. Avoid at all costs.

Addicted to rom-coms, you may want to check it out.

This is Punit's second attempt at a rom-com and he gets a few things right and a few wrong, making Gori Tere Pyaar Mein an average entertainer.

It isn’t flawless but it is immensely watchable. The film’s positives easily topples its negatives which is why I recommend you to watch this. Kareena-Imran are one unconventionally fantastic on screen pair who make sure GTPM is a wonderful experience for you. If you thought Ayan Mukherji was Karan Johar’s true protege, Punit Malhotra has upped his rank by emerging as a competitor.

It is left to Kareena to salvage the show, which she does to an extent. In the end, the burden of a boring script is too overwhelming for her to leave an impact. Tooh hoots - sorry, two stars - for all of it, what else.

All in all, the story is weak. Direction is poor too. Had Puneet stuck to a different kind of film perhaps, one that catered more to generation Z's rich tastes, then that film would've definitely fared better.Watch the movie if you have to, if you like to watch big stars on the big screen. For the rest, skipping this movie would be a wise decision.

Gori Tere Pyaar Mein! is a good, light-hearted, one time watch. It's breezy and fun for most part.

...is a charming and refreshing coming of age film plus rom-com rolled into those 2.25 hours. The film maintains the right balance between amusement, hilarity and engaging moments. Recommended!

...is not even a slapstick comedy film that Bollywood filmmakers are churning out every alternate week. At least those films are paisa vassol, but in this film not only does the story take a backseat, but the humour element is also missing.Punit Malhotra, who was an assistant director in Dharma productions’ films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie and Kal Ho Naa Ho, hasn’t learnt anything from his last flop film I Hate Luv Storys.

Films like GTPM are best enjoyed without the expectation of cinematic excellence. Nine out of ten developments in the narrative bypass logic. There are songs nineteen to the dozen. Great actors like Anupam Kher feature in run-of-the-mill funny bad guy roles. You might even be cheeky and say this movie is a frivolous little romance with the idea of filmmaking. But the bottom line is that it works. And you don't need reasons to smile.

Romcoms like GORI TERE PYAR MEIN go for direct DVD/home video release these days in Hollywood. They are not worth the big marketing spend needed to get your film out and noticed in the crowded market place. This one has got a wide release thanks to Dharma Productions' preeminent position in the industry. It is not a significant film and achieves nothing worthwhile cinematically and on various other parameters. It's a wasted effort.
