• There are moments and sequences in the film that are moving and funny and quietly heartbreaking. But those are few in an overlong film that never quite finds its groove. I’m going with two out of five for Meri Pyaari Bindu. It’s an opportunity lost.

Ayushmann Khurrana, as the steadfast Bubla, fares a little better than Parineeti Chopra because he is given more to play with…

While the nostalgic references will ensure smiles keep making fleeting appearances on your face, the film won’t quite make you root for the characters.

Meri Pyaari Bindu is watchable but don’t expect the quintessential Bollywood romance. If you are into slow paced films, this one might excite you.

  • Everything that I dislike about Bindu could also be used to her advantage in creating an unapologetic, compulsive attention seeker. Except under Roy and Sengupta’s infuriatingly daft and regressive outlook, Meri Pyaari Bindu relapses into indefensible stupidity.

  • If the aim of the film was to evoke nostalgia, it works in the sense that you yearn for the time when Bollywood knew how to make a love story, and romance didn’t have to be this laboured.

Meri Pyaari Bindu will appeal to the romantic in you, but watching the movie will be a battle between the brain and the heart. Your brain and the movie’s heart, that is.

While nostalgia can be a great cinematic tool, one wonders how much the current generation can relate to it…

This film about the eternalness of first love has its moments – the nifty use of a few old hits such as Meri Pyaari Bindu and Sapno Ki Rani – and is laden with nostalgia (Dear old Rs 500 note, how we miss you) but unlike those songs in the mix-tape, Meri Pyaari Bindu fails to be an all-time classic.

  • Meri Pyaari Bindu should have been named as ‘Meri Friend-Zoner Bindu’. With no love and lack of emotions…

This movie has its moments. Scenes featuring classic numbers like Mere sapno ki rani from Aradhana and Meri pyaari bindu from Padosan are superb. The seamless mix of comedy, romance and drama is fantastic too. At two hours, the film feels like an absolute breeze. Meri Pyaari Bindu hits a lot of ticks on the check boxes. And that is the strength of this refreshing new romance.

It’s breezy, but mediocre that fails to use the potential of the premise though inspired into a beguiling rom com. Yes we can say it’s better than BEFIKRE, Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra are delightfully charming in this long prolonged affair and if that motivates you to go for it go or else wait for the official DVD.

  • Nostalgia is one of the strongest characters in Meri Pyaari Bindu, but it’s unlikely that the target audience for this kind of frothy romcom would warm up to that, and those who would are perhaps seeking more heft.

Meri Pyaari Bindu is just about okay. If you wish to escape the summer heat outside or are seeking help in falling asleep, this film is a great option. However, you’ll come away loving Parineeti Chopra’s performance.

Overall, while the film is interestingly told and is engaging, the last scene, though it talks about a happy ending, unsettles the purist.

  • Meri Pyaari Bindu is that rom-com that doesn’t offer much new, but it still engages, entertains and makes you sob for you remembered that one heartbreak that took your faith in relationships away from you.

  • With an all new fresh pairing of Ayushmann and Parineeti, fantastic songs, good story-line and lots of funny moments, the film deserves a watch this weekend. Witness the magical relationship and reminisce yours with this cute couple in the theatres near you.
