• …flat-out delightful ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’. I haven’t laughed this hard during any film recently. Watch it for Kangana Ranaut, who’s at the top of her game.

…a film that is enjoyable despite its occasional slides into message-y territory…Kangana Ranaut plays Tanu beautifully mixing up the familiar with the new.

The strong writing is complimented by equally strong performances. Deepak Dobriyal is wonderful as the hapless, permanently rejected Pappi. However, Tanu Weds Manu Returns rests on Kangana’s shoulders and she carries it with her Herculean talent. Parts of the film are over-stretched and clunky — especially the climax. But if you can get past the over-blown drama, this film is a treat. I left the theatre thinking about Kusum. She is so terrific that she overshadows the bumps in the film.

Watch Tanu Weds Manu Returns if you love Bollywood. watch it if you follow Bollywood. and if you look down upon Bollywood, watch the movie to see how entertaining the industry can be. For people outside north India, the film is an authentic portrayal of middle-class small town India. And it is funny as hell! We’d say this is a must watch.

The story doesn’t delve into the seriousness of the issue of marital discord. There are subplots and then some. A barrage of coincidences follow, that don’t seem to care much for logic or details. It’s the performances and the writing that makes it all palatable.

  • Tanu Weds Manu Returns is not merely superior to its predecessor but the flamboyance and fun it provides is an implication we’re not quite done with this mad duo and their quirky universe yet.

  • …is as entertaining and engaging a film as any that Bollywood has delivered this year. Do not miss it.

Tanu Weds Manu Returns with double fun – and philosophy. It’s hard to love happily.

    Yet, so easy.

Aanand L. Rai merits applause for his masterful direction of Himanshu Sharma’s rich, riotous story. Evoking a new-age Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Rai keeps things tight, light, yet layered – and handles two leading ladies, one of whom deserves an extra half-star.

The problem with TWMR is in its sheer dishonesty. If this were an Anees Bazmee brainless comedy, it would still be understandable and acceptable…Despite all its flaws, watch it for the one-woman-show of Kangana Ranaut.

  • …the sequel deserves a watch for the sheer brilliance that it is, and the way Kangana has nailed her roles. Go watch Ranaut’s utterly saaxy swagger!

  • This is a real Desi rom com with a slightly quirky touch. It will leave a big smile on your face as you leave the theatre. Go, enjoy!

  • …makes for a must watch, especially for Kangna’s spellbinding performance, outstanding plot and amazing one-liners. SURE-SHOT HIT!

  • Kangna Ranaut has become a name big enough to call out audience to the hall single handedly. And she never takes a short-cut when it comes to acting. Tanu Weds Manu Returns is yet another film which the actress carries on her shoulders, twice over, till the climax.

…the show belongs to Kangana Ranaut who steals the thunder, lightning, rain and sunshine. She slips so effortlessly into both those characters that you have to marvel, what a gifted actress she is.

  • Aanand L Rai is sure commanding mastery over stories emanating from the North Indian heartland – the dialect, the nuances and the humour.

Watch ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, it will definitely make you laugh out loud for the most part. This is one sexy swagger by Kangana.

  • Anand L. Rai had other plans. He returns with a sequel that is rip-roaring, hits a raw nerve and is entertaining, entertaining, entertaining!
So are there any flaws. Of course, but this is one film where overall brilliance overshadows these flaws.

  • The film shockingly starts with a rather tacky mental hospital scene and just when your heart starts sinking at the travesty of the team, it soon gets back into the familiar, feel-good mode and life is good again.

Even though Kangana Ranaut has evidently grown by leaps and bounds in confidence over the five years since she starred in the original, the same can not be said about the sequel.

…is a special film that beats the astronomical odds against it to give us a heartfelt, unconventional yet traditional rom-com sequel that is able to find the rare perfect balance between romance and comedy.

  • The authenticity in the writing (Himanshu Sharma) is perhaps the reason practically all the actors in the film (most notably Deepak Dobriyal) leave a mark. The wit and repartee is absolutely top class.

Is this film about post-marriage issues a mainstream escapist fantasy still? Oh yes. It’s a complete mad-cap, rom-com romp. Manu starts off being diagnosed as clinically insane.

  • Our take—go grab a ticket and get swooned. Sometimes, you really need a part two to fall in love.

Director Anand L.Rai’s plot is punctuated with moments of family tension and spiced with great rustic colloquial one-liners that sparkle. The dialogues keep you in splits.

His screenplay is frothy and he takes a lazy approach in certain scenes. Though scene after scene you roll with laughter, they falter at times with forced humour.

  • Tanu Weds Manu Returns – its rather senseless name notwithstanding – can be a fun film to watch and laugh with. But if you’re really looking to take something away from it, then all you’re going to be left with is Kangana Ranaut’s swagger.

  • Though the plot falls short and seems to move round in circles, the story and acting — with a lot of hilarious lines — doesn’t lose pace.

Rai seems to have another winner on his hands with Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
