Despite its problems, it’s pretty good fun. Brimming with witty dialogue and some genuinely heartfelt moments, the film doesn’t snap even under the weight of its clichéd climax. At 2 hours and 21 minutes, it’s a tad long and repetitive, yet saved by some solid acting. Parineeti Chopra, in particular, deserves every accolade that’ll come her way; this is her fourth film release and once again she’s the best thing in it.

All said and watched, with all its highs and lows, ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’ is a mirth-see for its strongest factor: Ms Chopra.

No matter how you look at it, the film and every rich resplendent moment in it, belongs to Parineeti Chopra. She irons out all the rough spots in the storytelling, hides all the wrinkles in the jaded plot and makes her character seem far more empathetic than it would have been in a lesser actress’ hands.

A lot of films that are made with the claim of being romantic comedies turn out to be disappointing but this one delivers. It’s a good rom-com which is rare in Bollywood. What better timing than releasing it around Valentine’s Day.

Boy meets girl is often the most overused, mainstream , rom-com idea but Vinil Mathew’s treatment makes Hasee Toh Phasee flourish as a winner. I was disappointed with many parts but overall the film stayed with me longer than I expected it to. Sidharth’s subtle charm and Parineeti’s crackling yet astonishingly stunning performance are the biggest attributes why the film had me engaged till the lights went off. I am going with a 3/5 and a big thumbs up. Fresh thought is always fabulous!

Smile and get phasaao-ed by this one. It is a different flavour of candyfloss.

A huge chunk of debutant director Vinil Mathew’s Hasee Toh Phasee takes you through this woh saat din romcom in a refreshing way even though it all happens in the backdrop of a predictable, big fat Indian wedding with uncles, aunts and cousins, adding dollops of colour, fun and madness to it. It threatens to get slightly melodramatic in the second half but quickly saves itself from a deja vu pit.

Hasee Toh Phasee is a refreshing, much-needed entry in the contemporary romcom genre, which has lately seen a series of uninspiring films. It’s largely to do with the presence of an unseen pairing with great chemistry – Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra – and Mathew and writer Harshvardhan Kulkarni’s perky take on love.

…is a bright-and-breezy, charming and refreshing rom-com that makes you smile, laugh and gets you moist-eyed at regular intervals. A qualitative film that warms the cockles of your heart. Go for it!

Hasee toh Phasee is an enjoyable lightweight film that has more than a few things to admire.

The screenplay could have been tighter and the film could have easily been 30 minutes shorter. It’s not an unusual love story, it is the quirky Meeta and some beautiful moments that make ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’ work.

I’m happy to report that Hasee toh Phasee is very unlike its promos. For what it is, which is a bittersweet romcom triangle with a dash of dysfunctional family drama, it is actually pretty entertaining. And for all its periodic lapses in logic it is a well-made commercial film that actually does have a little something for everyone.

The film, that is only 2 and half hours long has everything in it to make you smile, laugh and cry at the same time. While we certainly cannot say that it is the best rom-com film, it has a narrative that ‘connects’ you to the characters and the plot, and that is the success of Hasee Toh Phasee.

…is a directorial winner. While it entertains, it also springs forth another director worth looking out to. It is a film which gets you to root for the protagonist. And you know you have winner when a film makes you feel such.

Don`t go for the movie if you are expecting a candy-floss romance. This movie is quirky and breaks some stereotypes. Parineeti`s performance is adorable and definitely a great plus point for the movie. Even though it is just a one time watch, this definitely makes a great valentines date. Take your girlfriend or spouse out for this movie and cosy up with a tub of pop corn for a not-so-typical romance.

The film may be a Rom-com or a coming-of-the-age-film, yet Meeta’s strong presence also makes it a character film. She isn’t the typical graceful heroine of a Hindi film who is waiting for her Raj. She is unconventional, eccentric and ambitious…Overall, this film is a must on your weekend planner if you are a Hindi movie buff.

The first-time director portrays this easy-on-the-eye, sweet and otherwise predictable romantic plot with finesse. The Parineeti Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra starrer banks heavily on the innocence and the freshness of the new age romance that Mathew has crafted carefully, without indulging in scenarios of lingering longing, hysteria or melodrama. In broad strokes, HTP is Abbas Tyrewal’s Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, with all its charm and frothy freshness.

Heartfelt and technically sound, the film is a mean debut by advertising man Vinil Mathew. Go watch!

It is refreshing to watch something different being attempted in as rundown a genre as rom-com. It is refreshing to see the lead female protagonist get something real to do – maybe the technicalities are all over the place but at least she isn’t one of the two extremes tomboy/chirpy-bubbly or demure/shyness incarnate. It is a little disappointing to see her too, make her life about her man. But, then again, maybe that is what love does to you.

It’s heart-warming, funny and enjoyable. And it touches a chord. What really makes the film work is that its tone is entirely original – a part of which comes from the writing, and the other from the way it’s executed – and which remains consistent through the film.

At some level, the writers have been subconsciously inspired by the Anne Hathaway-starrer ‘Rachel Getting Married’: a bleak drama about a wayward rehab-returned woman attending her sister’s wedding over a weekend… Parineeti as Meeta is one for the ages; she is the powering force behind a well-mounted film which, for most of its 141 minutes, is a timely shot in the arm for a traditionally mishandled genre.
