Super Nani Reviews and Ratings
-
Sadly the film squanders the talent of its very watchable leading lady who deserves so much better than this drivel.
-
It is supremely ironical that a film making fun of ‘saas-bahu’ serials (yes, it tries) shoves exactly those sentiments down our throat. And even more so when you call your leading lady Bharati. We can do without this creaky idea of Mrs India, thank you.
-
Super Nani is a special kind of awful.
-
Super Nani isn’t worth your time. It has absolutely nothing to offer. I wouldn’t be surprised if some actors never get a call from producers after this film.
-
Mr Kumar’s intentions in Super Nani maybe good, but this is 2014 where the audience is used to a certain standard of message delivery. Think English Vinglish, think Queen, think Highway. The finest shades of ‘women empowerment’ in Hindi cinema. You cannot wish these away and pretend you have done enough with a preachy, contrived session on family values.
-
Super Nani comes pretty close to breaking the record rona dhona in that Juhi Chawla melodrama called Saajan Ka Ghar.
-
Super Nani takes upwards of two hours to articulate something that all those weaned on Bollywood potboilers have known for ages. While doing so, it ratchets the decibel levels up to breaking point.
…To put it simply, Super Nani is a super bore.
-
Somewhere along the 133 minutes, you’re bound to wonder – why did drop-dead gorgeous Rekha agree to do this film? One can say that India’s self-styled Greta Garbo is a frog in the well. She obviously hasn’t seen English Vinglish and Queen during her Parliament break.
-
Super Nani was a super boring film. An atom out of the goneby years, this film is more of a mockery of the Biwi Ho Toh Aisi variety of plotlines. I laughed my guts put at the sheer display of lameness for most part of the film, and by the time the end credits roll, you will be disoriented enough to make a dash for a med store. Disprin, please someone. I am going with a lenient 1/5 and only for the film’s strong protagonist who pulls off this dismal affair with a lot of grace.
-
Mawkish, preachy and contrived, Super Nani is a tiring watch.
-
SUPER NANI is a wholesome family fare, which can be watched once… only for Rekha.
-
The only take-away from the film is that Rekha is as beautiful, as vivacious and super talented as ever and that our writers should really think of giving her meaningful roles that suit her stature.
-
After long, comes a family drama which every member of a family can enjoy in the company of each other. A complete family entertainer and a feel-good movie, although it offers nothing new. …the film belongs to Rekha. Watch it for her grace and poise and her acting skills.
-
No idea why the still-so-charming Rekha took up this role — to think she did something similar, but of course, not such a regressive film, ‘Khoon Bhari Maang’ back in the 80s. If you love Rekha, watch her earlier films instead and choose to ignore this one as a terrible mistake.
-
While Kumar might win points for versatility, for shifting from an audacious adult comedy like ‘Grand Masti’ into dictating morals in ‘Super Nani’, his transformation doesn’t appear genuine and doesn’t win us over.
-
There is however nothing that should make the audience walk into the theater for this one. Plain trash, early ’90s style.
-
Are you a die-hard Rekha fan? Then you will manage to sit through this 135 minutes of abla-naari-turned-femme fatale soap saga. At the most, the film is a decent effort by director Indra Kumar, who after having tried his hand at adult-comedy, tries to shift towards woman empowerment.
-
Rekha is eternal in her role. She shines as a true diva but unfortunately her timeless charm is lost in this unimaginative worn-out movie that could have being easily avoided by her.
The makers should have planned something inspiring like Sridevi’s comeback vehicle ‘English Vinglish’ to do justice to Rekha’s divine talent.
-
Super Nani is a family film. But we do not recommend to watch Super Nani with your family. Instead go to the theatres with your friends and have a wonderful time laughing your heart out at corny dialogues and a ridiculously outdated plot.
-
Producer-director Indra Kumar (Grand Masti, Dhamaal, Dil, Beta) gives us an unpalatable mash-up of Baghban, Khoon Bhari Maang (the makeover portion), and the regressive portions from English Vinglish. Yup, that’s right. Run the other way.
-
A shrill family melodrama whose essence is lost in execution…
-
The film is made with lot of heart and emotions. The movie’s biggest weakness is its predictability and over melodrama. Anupam Kher tickles funny bone as a filmmaker. Randhir Kapoor as Rekha’s on screen husband has few good scenes. Debutant Shweta Kumar is good. Watch this film if you are a fan of Rekha or Sharman Joshi.

Indra Kumar’s ‘Super Nani’ is made with lot of heart and emotions but despite its strong subject it hardly touches our soul. The movie’s biggest weakness is its predictability and over melodrama which worked two decades back when family drama movies were most served in Bollywood.
-
The movie as a whole doesn’t touch any emotions except for the fact that it is Rekha’s special comeback movie. Super Nani = Rekha Special.
-
“Super Nani” is a good family entertainer, which makes the viewers laugh as well as cry. It is a great comeback for Rekha, who overshadows all other actors in the film. The predictable plot and over melodrama are its two big drawbacks, which may not stop the audience from enjoying the movie.
