• While the first half is breezy and super fun, the second half could have been a tad shorter; we spend too much time on the foreplay to the climax. All-in-all Dhawan’s ‘Main Tera Hero’ manages to deliver on the entertainment quotient.

The girls are there just to fulfill the glamour quotient but Varun Dhawan shows that along with those 6 packs, he has some acting talent as well. He has the potential to be a hero but this is not the right film.

Main Tera Hero is not exactly David Dhawan of yore but it comes close. Largely, due to the effortless charm of Varun Dhawan. Worth a shot for some Varungiri. An extra star just for that.

I wouldn’t recommend that you spend money on multiplex tickets for Main Tera Hero, even if you like mindless comedies this could be a decent DVD watch.

  • MTH is a good weekend watch with your family, girlfriend or gang of friends. This is pure popcorn entertainment made for hero worshiping masses. And the silver lining is Varun Dhawan, a treasure chest of talent. The next big hero waiting to happen.

  • Watch it if you must for its catchy songs, a few good laughs, and a leading man who really tries.

After years one has seen a film complete with all elements of a commercial caper and yet not tripe or boring. A thoroughly entertaining film, Main Tera Hero is a must watch. If you’ve been a David Dhawan fan, if you are amidst the countless teenage girls who are swooned over by Varun Dhawan, if you haven’t been for an entertaining Bollywood comedy for the longest time, Main Tera Hero is the film for you.

It is a sure-shot test: The more you laugh during this film, the lower your IQ. The most interesting thing about Main Tera Hero is its music, from its foot-tapping songs to the background music most of which is stolen, including from James Bond.

  • I guess anything goes in a David Dhawan movie. Which is disappointing. Our movies and audience are making an attempt to evolve, but some filmmakers are insistent on rehashing the same old formula with new actors. Watch it if you don’t mind being served old wine in a glitzy new bottle.

Main Tera Hero is dumbed down by design. I have no issues with that. My problem is that the frenzied plot didn’t deliver enough funny lines. The burden of making this enterprise work rests mostly with Varun who is as hyper as a helium-filled energizer bunny. He romances, dances, punches and does comedy like his life depended on it. Meanwhile, the two svelte heroines – Ileana D’Cruz and Nargis Fakhri – simper around looking sexy. David believes in equal opportunity objectification so the camera caresses the girls as much as Varun’s six pack abs. They are all lovely to look at. I just wish it had been more interesting.

Breezy at best and hilarious in parts, Main Tera Hero is a trip down memory lane, where the original king of comedy – I mean David Dhawan here – regains some of his touch. Let’s go the whole hog next time, Mr Dhawan.

  • Watch MAIN TERA HERO for genuine laughs and also for the emergence of new stars, in this case Varun Dhawan. Watch it also for Rajpal Yadav who is endearing in his act as the side-kick to Angad and Saurabh Shukla who moves from his ‘set dye’.

  • I must admit that Main Tera Hero has much more focus in its plot than an average David Dhawan film.

The performances are those that belong in a slapstick film. Varun Dhawan monkeys around, Nargis Fakhri adequately continues to annoy, and Anupam Kher makes a fool of himself yet again. Like I said earlier, Ileana D’Cruz, Saurabh Shukla and Arunoday Singh manage a laugh or two, but just about.

Keeping things largely distanced from logic, David clearly plays to his strengths. He knows nobody comes looking for any semblance of realism in his films. So he keeps it shamelessly mindless and there is nothing wrong with that. Full marks to his leading man Varun for carrying an improbable plot to the finish line, making it a fun one-time watch. This hero is here to stay.

  • As if to compensate, there are ample displays of Varun’s sculpted body, his fighting skills, his dancing abilities, and his general heroism. The title says it all.

  • The end in such films is never really a mystery, it is how you get there that counts, and Main Tera Hero unfortunately takes a long, meandering, and utterly boring route to get to the climax we all saw coming two minutes into the film. Here’s hoping David Dhawan returns to form some day with a film that doesn’t quite gnaw at one’s brains as Main Tera Hero did.

The twists and turns in the film are timely. The comic timings are perfect. The facial expressions are superb. And lastly even though having an old formula, this film doesn’t allow you to feel bored throughout the 128 minutes. Main Tera Hero is a full on entertainer. David Dhawan has presented a retro ’90s style movie with peppy and foot-tapping music. Though Main Tera Hero isn’t a cult comedy movie, it is a must watch for cinegoers who want just entertainment, entertainment and entertainment!

  • Main Tera Hero, for all its excesses, is held together by its sustained comic energy. The sillier it turns, the better it gets.

The film has enough laugh-out-loud situations for the audience not to be overly put off by the screenplay’s obvious rough edges.

Give Main Tera Hero a shot. Not quite vintage David Dhawan, but it comes pretty close.

  • Main Tera Hero succeeds where films like R… Rajkumar, Chennai Express and Phata Poster Nikla Hero failed.

Not exactly suitable for family audiences, Main Tera Hero is a total seeti-maar, paisa vasool film and refreshingly unpretentious.

  • Main Tero Hero transports you into a world of fun that we have been kept devoid of from weeks. Quick witted, jocular and pricelessly silly, this film is a sure shot must watch. Leading constantly somber lives extracts the vibrancy out of us and after a long time here’s a film that will rescue you from the regular pains by offering 120 minutes flat of persistent guffawing. Varun Dhawan’s Govinda act is one rollicking show. I am going with a 3/5 and recommend that you definitely watch abandon all your troubles and have a blast at the movies this well. Thumbs up!

It’s time we stop watching boisterous, mindless & slapstick cinema, or the filmmakers will start making films which will be difficult to bear for even 15 minutes.

Even if you dare to apply your 1% brain while watching Main Tera Hero then the possibility is really high that you might end up walking out of the cinema way before the film ends.

‘Main Tera Hero’ is not as ghastly as a few recent Dhawans have been, but only because it takes itself not at all seriously, and becomes as silly as it should be for some of the second half . The rest of it has its share of the usual unsightly and tasteless gags about women and protruding body parts and the mandatory fat guy in a wheelchair.

  • You know that when you go to see a David Dhawan film that it’s a Bollywood fantasy film. Rajpal Yadav does the same role he has done in a million films before. In the mood for a madcap film? Main Tera Hero is the answer.

…a wild, wacky, madcap entertainer that has the unmistakable stamp of the master of entertainers — David Dhawan. An over the top plot, humor quotient and performances are three aces the film stands on. The film should work well with admirers of typical Bollywood masalathons, also because Varun Dhawan pulls off the act with flamboyance and bowls you over with an uproarious act in this zany entertainer. Go, have fun and laugh out loud!

  • The comedy just gets more tedious and unfunny as the film progresses. Except for a couple of jokes, nothing, and I mean nothing, is salvageable in this disaster of a film.

If you try to find something new in this movie, don’t waste your time as it is a typical David Dhawan style film. Like every Dhawan movie, Main Tera Hero is also a comedy one. Most of the scenes of this movie are reminiscent of previous Dhawan flicks despite new actors.

  • Full marks to Dhawan for carrying a comedy with a questionable plot till the finish line. He lays on the charm thick and nice. And if that didn’t seem to work, he just took off his shirt.
Watch this if you like films that don’t challenge you to think.

  • If anything, ‘Main Tera Hero’ requires a certain amount of willpower to watch the entire film even when you know that freedom and sanity is just a door away.

Don’t step in. Not if you have a choice.

  • A timepass of a movie, it can be watched once. Only wish Dhawan had taken some risks rather than sticking to the age-old formula that worked for him eons ago.

Those seeking movies with meaning, note – Main Tera Hero is a pav bhaji picture, quick, spicy, hot. It has the depth of a comic strip but it also has its neon-shaded fun. For those who want a light laugh, here’s your boy.
