More than a decade after Shimit Amin made one of the more memorable gangster films, a deathly dull sequel to it is here. Ab Tak Chhappan 2 merely wants to cash on its predecessor, the underworld had almost taken a backseat then in 2004, but the memories of it still remained fresh due to the havoc it unleashed earlier.

  • Everything about it feels rehashed and redundant.

…may lack the subtle cynicism and insinuated acrimony of Shimit Amin’s original. It is nonetheless a gripping gaatha dunked in gore and violence about the blurred line between the law and lawlessness.

Ab Tak Chappan 2 is such a bad news. Director Aejaz Gulab and writer Nilesh Girkar commit a heinous triple crime of screwing two movies at one go and in the process screw a remarkably earnest and honest effort of an actor like Nana Patekar go waste by making such a sequel to Shimit Amin’s cult crime epic.

This might be a director’s attempt at making it all look artistic and ‘hatke’, but what it ends up doing is showing us sights like the not-so-pretty thighs of a dhoti wearing politician. among other unmentionable things.

Avoid. If feeling nostalgic, watch the original again.

This sequel will only dilute memories of the original. Unless you’re looking for 56 shades of dull, dated and contrived grey.

  • This picture is still in the ‘90s. I’m pretty sure the audience has moved on.

… there’s just one feature of this film that allows the viewer to sit through its agonizing two hours – Nana Patekar. The veteran actor pulls out all stops in action, dialogue delivery and even scenes of sparse comedy. But how long can even the most industrious captain sail a sinking ship? Ab Tak Chappan 2 goes down without a trace. Even Ram Gopal Varma’s worst film has more cinematic nuance than this rookie mistake.

A failed attempt to rekindle the excitement of its first part, Ab Tak Chappan 2 is like attempting to go back to an ex who has clearly moved on!

  • The film can be endured by those excited enough to see Nana Patekar back in action, such that they’ll overlook the film’s shortcomings. If that’s not you, it’s wiser to pass.

Ab Tak Chhappan 2 is solely dependent on Nana Patekar and he doesn’t disappoint, but he alone is not enough to save a film that is almost a replica of the original. However, it offers thrilling scenes and a good first half. On second thoughts, I think it works in the wrong way because the first half raises the expectations and then the film loses the steam. Still, it’s not an unwatchable film. You’ll like it if you don’t want it to compete with LA Confidential or Training Day or Sehar or Ardh Satya.

The film lacks the originality of Ab Tak Chhappan, so watch it only if you are a diehard Nana Patekar fan.

  • Does Ab Tak Chhappan have any redeeming feature at all? Well, it has no songs. But, then, who would feel like singing when trapped in a darkened hall where Ab Tak Chhappan 2 is playing? Stay away unless you are a diehard Nana Patekar fan.

You shouldn’t, even if you’re a die-hard Nana Patekar fan. Watch the original Ab Tak Chhappan if you wish.

  • Give it a miss in theaters and watch the original at home if you want to save your money!

  • Nana Patekar is at his blistering best, even though he is shown ageing in the sequel. He is still sharp and agile, putting his younger teammates to shame.

For his fans, this is a must watch.

This kind of film can work if it has a new spin on an old story. But the cop who gets busy notching up kills, without making us wonder about the morality of someone taking it upon themselves to exterminate humans, is a cipher. So is the film. And the worst part? It’s full of blips, everyone’s lips going silent, as soon as, presumably, a cussword comes along.
    Oh our delicate ears.

Despite its flaws, ATC2 can be watched, if you are a diehard Nana Patekar fan. On second thoughts, watching the original again would be a smarter move.

  • Ab Tak Chhappan 2 is so terribly obvious in its deviousness, there’s not even a smidgen of surprise to expect…

For an action drama, there is a lot of talk in Ab Tak Chhappan 2 but not all of it is worth a listen. Obviously, Patekar’s Agashe has the best lines as he shoots wisecracks and indulges in sardonic talk. Some of it draws a few laughs, making it the only redeeming bit of the film.

  • This Dabangg version of Nana Patekar is deadly boring…

  • AB TAK CHHAPPAN 2 is a poorly made sequel and can be skipped.

  • Ab Tak Chhappan 2 is all talk and no play. There is no killer action or pace like its prequel. It lacks the nerve to make up for a entertaining cop drama. Shoddy direction and editing spoil all the fun.

Before the movie began, the trailer of Dev Patel’s upcoming film Chappie was shown. Trust me, that two and a half minutes trailer was way better than this full film. If you are a Nana Patekar fan, go watch Shimit Amin’s Ab Tak Chappan than the sequel!

  • A decade after ‘Ab Tak Chappan’ was released, this apology of a sequel brutally kills the original. Shoddy production qualities, uneven background music, jaded dialogues and pointless, unimaginative script scheme together to make this sequel a bit of a disaster.

  • Nana Patekar’s ‘Ab Tak Chappan2’ is a forgettable mess…Unfortunately, the sequel never quite matches the original

  • Watch this if you are a fan of Patekar and have an appetite for gory gangster-cop films.
