For the second time in months, Bollywood has turned the tables to great effect by making a hero play the part that was traditionally reserved for women. We heartily approve. As heroines have argued over the years, it isn’t demeaning to be an important and beautiful prop when the character is written and performed well. With actors like Khan in the mix, there may yet be hope for the Indian romantic comedy.

All in all, with a high feel-good quotient, Khoobsurat delivers a pleasant outing at the cinemas.

Sadly, Shashanka displays none of the eccentric creativity that we saw in his earlier films, though he does create moments of charm.

If you wish to watch a light hearted time pass film, then this one would not be a bad choice.

Khoobsurat is sure to connect with the hearts of girls of all ages…

“Khoobsurat” is a harmless film, one that doesn’t say much and doesn’t have much to offer in terms of a cinematic experience, but doesn’t scar you for life either. If you don’t mind a bit of shallow romance, and pretty people falling in love, this might be the film for you.

‘Khoobsurat’ is nothing but a high gloss mediocre update to Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s 1980’s classic. If a romcom was the intention then why touch a Hrishida’s classic is the question.

With some hits and misses, ‘Khoobsurat’ remains fairly grounded in its genre, and comes with the disclaimer – “strictly for girls”.

…it’s something I would recommend for a light Sunday afternoon. It is guilty pleasure. It is saccharine sweet and fluffy. It is candy floss – it won’t satiate your appetite, but will feel good while you are at it and a little after.

To be fair, I’m not the target group for this movie. It’s probably aimed at audiences aged 14 or 15 or under (whether mentally or chronologically). All I could do was wonder what was getting on my nerves more: screechy Sonam’s over-acting or a terribly underwhelming story-line. Now that’s a tough call.

Fairy tales are fantasies served with candyfloss. ‘Khoobsurat’ aims to be just that, only it is less creative fantasy and dripping more of sugary syrup. Watch it once if you love rom-coms or better still, if you are a Fawad Khan fan.

If you fancy fluff this one is designed for you!

It’s definitely not as good as the original. But it’s perfectly in tune with the times.

This Khoobsurat may not have the realistic charm of its predecessor and certain twists seem abrupt. But it is the convincing performances by Aamir, Fawad, Ratna and Kirron that manage to lift the storyline. And when little things go wrong, Fawad’s intense gaze helps you forget them. Bollywood may have just found its Mr Darcy.

Khoobsurat is not going to blow you away cinematically but has enough to keep you engaged and entertained for its screen time. Warning: Sonam’s unduly multi-coloured, garish wardrobe could distract you.

This film has little of the gentle nuance of the Hrishikesh Mukherjee-directed original, but it’s still pretty good fun. This Bollywood-Disney fairytale combo is worth a shot!

The movie is filled with many fun moments and does not compel you to be prepared for a hard-hitting melodramatic journey. Overall, a light, bright and colourful cinematic experience, with Fawad as an eye-candy, who knows his job to the ‘t’.

It may not be for everyone, but for those who seek comfort in the familiar, it’s a pretty satisfying watch.

You can’t completely write-off the film, it’s a one time watch if you have nothing to do this weekend. In fact, Kirron Kher, despite her repetitive acting, is still very entertaining throughout the film. Presence of Fawad Khan will definetly drag her female fans to the theater. Rest, Sonam Kapoor’s fans will get what they expect from her.

Do not expect anything new and you will not be disappointed. This remake of a Hrishikesh Mukherjee film is contemporised for today’s generation and has a chick-flick written all over it.

Certainly worth a watch: especially for Gen-X.

Shashanka Ghosh’s Khoosurat is an all-round disaster. It reminds me all over again how confident a film-maker Hrishikesh Mukherjee was, and how sympathetic he was to his characters.

Despite its fallback, Khoobsurat does manage to be likable with its feel good and breezy story. Khoobsurat can be watched once for Sonam and Fawad’s amazing chemistry.

Khoobsurat is entertaining, fun and paisa-vasool. If you have been wondering “what’s all the fuss about Fawad Khan?”, don’t miss this one!

Khoobsurat is an entertaining and fun film. Though it might not measure up to the standards of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s classic, this fairytale might charm you. It’s not always that we get to see a vivacious princess in Bollywood.

‘Khubsoorat’ is bubblegum-y and air-headed and good-natured, and its biggest strength is that it keeps it consistent, becoming one of those films that over-delivers precisely because it under-promises.

…we aren’t suggesting you should waste time and money on the movie unless you are indifferent to the lack of Sonam’s acting skills and an overall lowering of standards for wits and jokes.

Khoobsurat offers up the expected — only it does so with a smirk…

Hrishida won’t recognize this as his Khubsoorat. But he won’t disapprove of what has been done to his work.

Looks like Khoobsurat is for the multiplex audience but I’m not sure if today’s generation will enjoy a dull show like this one.

Khoobsurat is the fairytale you want to be in!

Khoobsurat isn’t for people who don’t have the appetite for romantic comedies or who aren’t fairytale believers. They will go with incorrect expectations and come back disappointed on grounds of it being unrealistic primarily. I did not mind the lack of novelty because it was afterall a well executed film. Fawad Khan as Prince Charming is the show stealer here and he makes his chemistry with Sonam look fantastic! Bubbling with energy, breezy and beautiful, this film is a good enough, passably enjoyable one time watch.

Khoobsurat is a film that could have been infinitely worse if not for its supporting cast, cosmetically enhanced mansions and music (Sneha Khanwalkar) that is perhaps too funky and authentic for the candy-flossed treatment.

In a nut shell, Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan’s Khoobsurat directed by Shashanka Ghosh will not disappoint you only if you never watched Rekha’s version of the film.

Khoobsurat is a pretty good show. It is both funny and flashy, but its many flourishes are delivered in measures that religiously avoid excess.

…this delightfully roguish romance tickles everything fun-loving inside you.

That’s what makes it so khoobsurat.

Khoobsurat, which means beautiful, has its sparkling moments. The songs, such as the one where Mili breaks into a dance with the palace’s help, doesn’t serve any purpose and just makes the romance sluggish. Tighter editing and trimming off of Kapoor’s shrill, cute act would have elevated this engaging film into a riveting one.

KHOOBSURAT is likeable in parts with good performances and stunning visuals; however the weak script is an ‘ugly’ hurdle this film will face at the box-office.
